Universities offer scholarships for online study

  • American University Online Scholarships All accepted students are automatically considered to receive the scholarships for which they qualify, including the online Master of Public Administration & Policy.
  • Berklee Scholarships for Online Music There are 16 online scholarships of nearly US$1,500 available to current students of Berklee College of Music’s online school.
  • University of Edinburgh Distance Learning Scholarships– A variety of postgraduate scholarships are available for online students who wish to study part-time in the UK at University of Edinburgh. Medical scholarships are listed.
  • University of Manchester Scholarships for online Master of Public health – Scholarships are available for online students from Tanzania, Uganda or Rwanda. Scholarships cover tuition fees, materials, and exams for the online MPH. The requirements include at least two relevant years of work experience.
  • Penn State World Campus scholarships — Various undergraduate scholarship to study online at Pennsylvania State University’s ‘World Campus’ (online campus).
  • University of London LLM scholarships– Offered by Canon Collins Trust in partnership, postgraduate scholarship is available to students from South Africa or Malawi. Four scholarship recipients will be awarded full waivers of tuition and exam fees. The applicant must work full-time or part-time, and be willing to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to study.
  • Washington State University ASWSU ASWSU Global scholarship Online scholarships for returning and new students of Washington State University’s global campus. Scholarships are based both on academic merit and financial needs.
  • Western Governors University scholarships — Various online scholarship programs for bachelor or master level studies, some offered in partnership with another organization.

Scholarships for online study offered by other organizations

  • Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships – Online scholarships available to citizens of Commonwealth developing countries who wish to pursue a masters degree through distance learning. These courses are mainly internet-based. The courses are offered either in partnership with universities from developing countries or directly by UK universities.
  • Elearning Instructional Design & Learning Technologies scholarship program – Scholarships available to US citizens with a minimum five-year work experience after high school and who have been accepted into an online US-based program related to eLearning Development/Design, Instructional design or Learning Technology.
  • Get Education Online College Scholarship Program: Scholarships are available to online students who have enrolled in degree programs accredited in the US. You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA cumulative.
  • Open Colleges Photo Scholarship – Open Colleges offers a merit-based prize whereby the winner is given a check covering the full cost of the online course. The second-place winner receives a check for half the course cost, and the third-place winner gets a cheque covering a quarter of that cost.
  • Scholarship for Online Learners by Online Study Australia – A scholarship of AU$2,000 will be awarded to a foreign student or Australian who is currently studying online or plans to study online with a college or university. You must write at least 200 words on a topic related to online learning.
  • UNICAF scholarships Scholarships available to online students of all nationalities who wish to take online courses at the University of South Wales in the UK, Marymount California University in the US and the Cypriot University of Nicosia.
